Winter Storm Timeline

Lots going on over the next 48 hours to say the least! Wind and warmth will give way to showers later today. Rain will become heavy at times tonight and changeover to a scattered wintry mix Thursday morning as temps fall. We’re still thinking we’ll get a bit of a break during the morning before a period of mix to heavy snow moves in Thursday midday-Thursday night. Our forecast totals remained unchanged despite much higher totals coming in on some of the modeling–we’re thinking 4-8 inches for the entire Region–all falling Thursday into early Friday. The Weekend Forecast

Our Saturday morning showers will change over to a mix of rain and snow showers before ending later today. Not much in the way of accumulation is expected. The bigger story will be the winds and the bitterly cold temps that come in and freeze all of our slushy, rainy mess. Temps will dive into the single digits tonight with windchills in the -10 to -20 degree range. We don’t recover much Sunday with highs only in the mid 10s. Continue reading The Weekend Forecast

Snow, Wintry Mix, and Rain On The Way

It’s January. After a quiet winter so far, it shouldn’t be surprising that we’re actually going to get some snow and ice. Yes, we’ll see some problems, but we’re from the Region–we can handle this. A smorgasbord of precipitation is heading our way with our well-advertised storm system that will impact a large majority of the eastern US. It all begins this evening with a period of moderate snow.
