TODAY’S SEVERE WEATHER RISK

We have a close call today. A cold front will move through the Region from lunchtime into the early afternoon and storms will pop right over us once we get some daytime heating. We’re expecting storms to rapidly develop taking only 30-45 minutes to go from showers to strong storms. They’ll be in the “develop” phase right over us–the big question is–are they out of here by the time they turn severe? Most of them should be. In terms of timing, we’re thinking around lunchtime (11am-1pm CT) with everything exiting the Region by mid-afternoon. Primary risks with any storms would be damaging winds and hail, but the tornado risk ramps up as they get going–likely east of us. Here’s what we’re thinking in terms of zones:
