Let’s get up to speed on the latest thinking around today’s storm threat. Our morning round of rain and rumbles is moving through right on cue–no severe threat with this. We’ll likely see things clear out for a bit from midday through early afternoon but additional rain looks to arrive this afternoon from thunderstorms now on-going across portions of Arkansas. This cluster of storms will likely keep the widespread severe threat south of us (the option we chatted about last night), but we could still see a few stronger storms locally with the dynamics of this storm system moving in.
It does look like we see a good dose of rain and thunder this afternoon through late this evening and the biggest threat would be for stronger winds. We’ll need to keep an eye on the storms as they develop and move in later today, but overall it looks like the highest threat for severe weather today will remain to our south where the greatest instability will be due to that push of rain coming in from the southwest this afternoon. Stay tuned!
