Travelling east along the Toll Road or into southwest lower Michigan along I-94? You’ll run into some intense lake effect snow bands at some point if timing takes you through there later today through midday Friday.

This arctic air continues to spill across the Great Lakes and it’s activated the lake effect snow machines really for the first time this year. Intense lake effect snow will be ongoing across all the Great Lakes and as you know, it all depends on the wind direction.

The fetch this time will bring the snow into South Bend and across a good portion of western Michigan. We could see snow showers sneak into Laporte County as well with some lighter accumulations possible tonight into Friday. The bulk of the snow by far will be just to our east.
