An impressively cold airmass continues to rush east through the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley producing temps that are some 20 to 30, even 40 degrees colder. The combination of this cold airmass and winds that will relax just a bit overnight will lead to widespread frost and even temps that fall at or slightly below freezing tonight.
While a Freeze Warning has been issued for a large portion of the Midwest including portions of Wisconsin and Illinois–we don’t have anything issued for the Region as of Friday afternoon–but we’re still forecasting temps in and around the freezing mark, especially in outlying locations away from the lake.

Areas within a few miles of the lake will likely be exempt, but everyone else is fair game for a frost or even a freeze tonight as winds go a bit lighter temporarily. Here are the forecast winds overnight…still breezy, but light enough in spots to enable some frost.
What a change right? Don’t forget you need to bring in any plants you want to keep a bit longer, or cover any sensitive vegetation. I know we still have tomatoes growing that we want to keep!
