GET OUT AND ENJOY TODAY:
Sunshine and spring-like warmth will rule our day Tuesday with high temps reaching well into the 70’s. Clouds will begin to increase later in the day in advance of our next weather system that will be developing to our west.
STORMS & HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE:
That next storm system will approach Wednesday and bring a slow moving line of showers and storms to north-central Illinois during the day…and that line will eventually help rain and thunderstorms to overspread NW Indiana later Wednesday into Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Some of those storms could be strong to severe–I’m not overly impressed with our severe chances at this time–but we’ll keep a close eye on this system. The greatest threat would be from late Wednesday into Wednesday night. I think of greater risk will be the heavy rain. We could see 1-3 inches of rain fall somewhere in the area–the exact locations are yet to be determined. Given the wet spring we’ve had so far–we may have some minor flooding issues when this storm system heads out later this week.
Here’s a look at the timing of the showers and storms per our Region Weather model:
MORE RAIN BEYOND MID-WEEK:
Another storm system will bring showers to the area Friday into the weekend with periods of rain and showers possible through Sunday. Again, the potential for some flooding is the primary risk with these systems as well. The situation will need to be monitored.
Keep it tuned here for the latest!
