Ahh September! The leaves start changing, pumpkin-spice takes over, and cool crisp mornings are enjoyed. Here are the averages as we start the month and where we go by the months end. Our average highs fall into the low 70s with lows easily in the 40s. We have a fairly dry month and still average 3 days at 90 or above. The thing you’ll notice this month is daylight loss. We lose a LOT of daylight in September to the order of an hour and 19 minutes by month’s end.

All that talk of cool, crisp September…but here’s reality. How do low 90s sound with high humidity today?

It will feel more like July rather than September.

The dome of heat continues to build into the Region today, so we’ll feel hotter than yesterday. With the high humidity, heat indices will push into the 100+ territory this afternoon. Expect another hot day tomorrow. In terms of storm chances, they’ll be around (as we’re seeing this morning), but most hours should be dry today and tomorrow. Storm chances ramp up and some could be strong to severe Thursday and Friday as the ridge breaks down.
