Midday Severe Weather Update

We continue to watch the complex of storms evolve into a fast-moving MCS (or mesoscale convective system) as expected with a widespread area of strong, damaging winds on the leading edge. This complex continues to surge east at 65 mph with large hail and winds over 80 mph possible as it does so. For us, we’re on the northern end of this complex–it’s not the worst place to be. From past experience, we’ll likely see a decent shelf cloud with strong gusty winds move in as well as rain and lightning–but the bulk of the truly gnarly weather should stay just to our south. Newton and Jasper counties stand the highest threat of severe weather from this. We’ll be keeping a VERY close eye on its evolution over the next hour or so. Stay tuned to our Facebook Page found HERE for updates.
