As we’ve mentioned, there’s a solid cap on the atmosphere right now preventing any storms along this cold front from organizing beyond a quick shower (all west of us now). As the evening wears on, this cap will eventually erode allowing those cumulonimbus clouds to finally stretch out into the atmosphere resulting in shower and storm development. I’ll have my eye on whatever develops this evening down towards St. Louis as that is what will head our way. Still not expecting a widespread severe event tonight, but we should crank out a few good storms capable of hail and strong winds. Until then, we’ll play the waiting game to see what develops and where!
