Temps are tumbling behind our arctic cold front that will bring a return to cold air for the weekend. Temps will struggle to get above 20 this weekend as the core of the arctic air moves over the Great Lakes.

As expected, snow showers are breaking out as the colder air moves in and we’ll eventually see lake effect snow organize into Saturday morning.

Lake snows will target La Porte and eastern Porter County as it looks right now with several inches of snow, likely on the order of 2-6 in La Porte County with lesser amounts as you move west through Porter County. While this won’t be a big, or a prolonged event, we’ll encounter tricky travel and snow-covered roads in La Porte County up into southwest lower Michigan Saturday.

Another weaker clipper system will pass to our southwest on Sunday and may help to trigger additional lake effect snow showers and flurries, but additional accumulations look to be on the lighter side. We’ll keep you updated as always!
