4:30 AM Lake Snow Update

Our main band of lake effect snow developed around 2am and continues to stream into areas just to our west including Chicago and the western, northwestern, and southwestern suburbs.

We’ve seen on and off light snow overnight but the main concern for heavy snow will stay out of NW Indiana for that morning commute. Roads are slick in places, especially northwestern Lake County beginning just to the west of Gary, but nothing too noteworthy.

This band of heavy lake snow looks to sit in Illinois this morning and we’ll watch a potential progression east into our area later today, but until then, just periodic snow showers this morning with no major travel concerns locally.

If travels take you across the border up into Chicago you’ll encounter problems as that main band of lake snow is producing 1-2 inches of snow per hour.
