As this arctic air spills across the Great Lakes a prolonged lake effect event is likely for those in western lower Michigan. Locally, we’re still not expected as much as areas just around the bend into Berrien County, but La Porte County could still see a few inches before all is said and done.

I don’t feel like the models are picking up on a lighter snow potential tonight into early Tuesday for Porter and even portions of Lake County where we could squeak out some light accumulations with a secondary band.
Otherwise it’s a La Porte County story with snow showers tonight perhaps relaxing a bit during the day Tuesday before returning later in the day into Wednesday. We’re still thinking several additional inches (2-5) of snow are possible there through Wednesday where those lake bands set up. Here’s the model we like best, but still thinking it may undercut some of our NWI totals before Wednesday night gets here.
