Drier air is briefly working into the Region with a good breeze today behind yesterday’s cluster of rain and storms. We picked up anywhere from .25 to nearly 2 inches of rain from last evening’s soaker–some portions of Illinois saw over 8 inches of rain near Peoria from those storms!
It’s not a bad day to hit the beach–but you should avoid the water as it’s a high rip current risk day as waves will be crashing in with that northerly component to the wind. Wave heights on the shores of Lake County will be a bit higher with a better fetch.
Get that sunscreen on as well with a UV Index of 8 today–that’s in the very high category! You know the drill!
