Here’s the area outlined by the Storm Prediction Center for strong to severe storms Friday night into early Saturday morning:
Our warm front will be well to our south today (Friday) into tonight, but it will begin it’s push northward as we head into Saturday morning.
As a result, we’ll still be in the cooler, more stable air today and tonight with areas of dense fog possible. Storm, however, can become elevated, or rooted in the atmosphere above us–and that will likely be the case overnight.
Our severe threat isn’t high tonight, but the elevated storms can and often produce a good lightning show and hail. I think hail will be our primary threat tonight into Saturday morning before instability begins to increase during the day Saturday leading to a different brand of storms Saturday afternoon/night.
