HAPPY METEOROLOGICAL SPRING!
It may not be Spring in your books, but it is in ours! (feel free to join) Meteorological Spring begins today as we kick off the month of March. Why do we do Meteorological Spring? Simple. Record-keeping. It’s on fixed three-month blocks, rather than the sun’s position. This system helps climatologists easily track data, maintain consistent yearly records, and align seasons with the coldest/warmest weather patterns during the year.
All of that aside, as we begin March…this really is an exciting month weather-wise as we begin to come out of Winter’s cold. Sure, we still get some snow…but we have the biggest increase in average highs AND daylight out of any month. It’s definitely a transition month. Here’s a look at some numbers for the month.

It’s fitting that today we talk…snow. But thankfully down to our south and not a big deal. We’ll stay in this colder pattern through tomorrow before a big pattern change brings waves of rain and MUCH warmer air to the Region. We’ll discuss in our weekly Region Weather LIVE broadcast coming up at 5pm CT today!
