MAJOR EAST COAST BLIZZARD, SOME SNOW FOR US TOO
Good Saturday evening everyone. Tomorrow and Monday will be impactful to say the least along the east coast as a major winter storm ramps up. An area of low pressure is expected to “bomb out”, or rapidly drop in pressure (24 mb in 24 hours) creating quite the wind storm and snow storm. Blizzard conditions are likely including NYC up into Boston–so travel Monday morning will be affected all over the country as a domino effect!
Locally we’ll get some snow too. Some snow is currently working off the lake and we’ll continue with lake effect snow, mainly light but steady tonight through the entire day tomorrow. We’ll watch for some organization as we’ve been talking about tomorrow into Monday. Models are all over the board on accumulations with the usually overdone HRRR coming in with 10-15 inches by Monday night where lake effect persists, meanwhile the NAM based models are coming in the 3-6 inch range where the lake effect persists. Outside of the lake effect amounts will be much lighter. We’ll hone in on that during our broadcast Sunday evening, but for now, know that we’ll turn snowy around here tonight and tomorrow with highest amounts favoring areas of LaPorte and Porter Counties through Monday.
