Important Friday Storm Update

Good Friday afternoon everyone–we have storms erupting out in Iowa as expected as of 4pm CT–these storms will further develop and merge into a large complex of storms that will be rolling east this evening. You’ll see a lot of scary posts from hyped up weather pages on social media regarding our severe threat locally…please skip over them. Our atmospheric dynamics aren’t nearly at the levels of what’s happening well to our west. Plus, with the loss of daytime heating (these storms are reliant upon that tonight…sometimes they’re not) we’ll begin to see this complex fade as it approaches the Region. That being said, the remaining strength of these storms is still in question when they arrive.

At worst–damaging wind threat.
Most likely scenario–leftover rain and gusty winds.
Best scenario–they completely fall apart before arriving.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on these this evening–but if you have plans, keep them! We have quite a while before these even approach the Region with an arrival into the overnight hours most likely. Stay tuned though!
