Ice Moving In: A Look at the Hour-by-Hour Ice Forecast

Temps are doing their thing in the mid and upper 20s this evening as expected and the problem is–we’re not going to snow in this air, we’re going to rain.

With frozen solid surfaces, this rain will hit everything and freeze immediately and there’s our freezing rain.

In terms of timing, nothing has changed with our evening and overnight expected to be the most slippery on untreated surfaces. I don’t want us to let our guard down thinking “just a glaze” doesn’t cause problems. Decks, sidewalks, roads will all get covered in ice without treatment–but for perspective, this isn’t an apocalyptic storm. Freezing rain will be on and off through the night but should be in the winding down phase for that morning rush hour. Temps will slowly climb above freezing during the 6-10am timeframe and this doesn’t melt ice immediately. As a result, we’re likely to still have a glaze of us on things through late morning/midday tomorrow.

Please be careful if you’re heading out tonight or early tomorrow.
