LAKE EFFECT SNOW LATER TODAY
As the winter storm chatter begins to subside today, our attention will turn towards a band of lake effect snow that will impact the Region later this afternoon into the evening. A band of lake snow is affecting areas of Wisconsin and extreme northeastern Illinois this morning as expected. As winds begin to shift, we’ll see this band of snow work south into Chicago this afternoon and then shift along the lakeshore into Lake and eventually Porter counties later this afternoon into the evening. Depending on how long it sits over a particular area, we could see several inches of quick snow under this lake effect band. Timing isn’t ideal as this would involve the evening rush hour with potential impacts to 80/94 and I-65. Overnight this band of snow should begin to push east before weakening through Tuesday morning.
