Burst of Snow Moves Out, Lake Effect Takes Over Later Today

SNOWY FRIDAY AHEAD

Our morning burst of snow that has worked from north to south through the Region will continue to push out this morning and we’ll catch a bit of a break during the late morning through early afternoon hours.

Attention then turns towards a band of lake effect snow that will be moving south from northeastern Illinois later this afternoon into the evening. This band of lake snow is expected to settle over the Region this evening into tonight bringing localized heavier snow as it waffles back and forth between Lake, Porter, and even LaPorte counties.

Several additional inches of snow will be possible where this band sets up before it begins to wind down Saturday.

Interestingly enough, this band looks to stay just west of South Bend, so the big game tonight will be spared by the heavy snow potential, but with snow on the ground already and the chance for a few snow showers, it will certainly feel like a late December football game!
