There’s been lots of chatter around the Northern Lights the last few days and how they may be visible here in northwest Indiana as early as tonight. So, I decided to reach out to my good friend who’s an astronomer professor to get the scoop.
The short answer is: no, we won’t be able to see them.
His response:
“NO!Ā there will be NOĀ visibleĀ aurora in our viewing area.
I wasĀ re-viewing the new predictions.Ā Aurora may be visible LOW on the horizon forĀ Prince Rupert B.C. into central Canada.Ā Thats over 10 degrees further north than we are.Ā Ā
I don’t even think that photographers will capture anythingĀ real.”
So, in summary–get some sleep tonight!
