Happy weekend NWI! We made it. We’ll have two main rounds of storm chances this weekend as it looks right now–the first arrives late this evening into tonight.
Round 1: We’ll watch a decaying line of storms roll in from the west late this evening–wind would be a risk from these depending on the track, but it doesn’t look like widespread severe weather would be a concern given the timing. We’ll still need to keep an eye on this line of storms.

Round 2: The atmosphere will likely reload a bit on Sunday with a quiet start to the day expected. As the cold front punches into the warm, humid atmosphere we’ll likely pop another round of storms somewhere in northern Indiana during the afternoon. These storms could easily be severe and they’re expected to develop quickly–but guidance is suggesting this occurs just east of us over towards South Bend. It all depends on the exact timing of the front–again, another round we’ll have to keep an eye on if timing changes by 25-50 miles (which is a small amount given the grand scale of the atmosphere).
So in summary, two time periods we’re watching for storms this weekend: late this evening into tonight and Sunday midday-afternoon. We’ll keep you updated with the latest!
