A cold front was sinking south towards the Region with a warm, humid flow from the south out ahead of the front. The jetstream winds were PARALLEL to the movement of the showers and storms helping them to go over the same areas over and over. The result was widespread 3-7 inches of rain across northern Illinois and NW Indiana.
